JIMBARAN – Grade XI students of Widiatmika Vocational High School took part in an educational visit to Java from January 19 to 24, 2026, as part of an out-of-class learning program designed to broaden students’ perspectives while strengthening independence and responsibility. The six-day, five-night program covered several cities, including Malang, Yogyakarta, Semarang, and Solo.
The program was attended by all Grade XI students and accompanied by teachers, homeroom teachers, and the school’s supervising team. Throughout the journey, students followed a structured schedule arranged by the school, from departure and institutional visits to their return to Bali. This arrangement was intentionally designed to train students to manage themselves, take care of their belongings, and follow activity schedules independently, away from direct parental supervision.
The Head of Widiatmika Vocational High School, Ni Luh Putu Emayanti, M.Pd, explained that the educational visit is an important part of contextual learning.
“This program aims to develop students’ independence, responsibility, and discipline. At the same time, students gain direct insight into universities outside Bali as references for their future education,” she said.
During the visit, students toured several educational institutions, including Bina Nusantara University Malang, Gadjah Mada University, and SMK Raden Umar Said Kudus. Through these visits, students observed learning facilities and practical workshops, learned about academic culture at higher education levels, and explored various study programs and vocational pathways.
In addition to academic visits, students also participated in learning activities in public and cultural spaces such as Borobudur Temple, the Yogyakarta Palace, and the Malioboro area. These activities were designed as social learning experiences to strengthen students’ communication skills, teamwork, and adaptability to new environments outside the classroom and outside their home region.
Throughout the program, the school implemented a tiered supervision system to ensure safety, discipline, and smooth execution of all activities. Teachers monitored student attendance, participation, and well-being at every stage of the journey, ensuring that learning continued in an organized and supportive environment.
Emayanti added that the expected outcome of the program is a positive change in students’ self-management and decision-making abilities.
“We hope students become more confident, develop clearer future goals, and are better prepared to continue their education or enter the world of work,” she said.
Through this educational visit, Widiatmika Vocational High School reinforces its commitment to learning that extends beyond the classroom, offering students real-world experiences that help shape character, thinking skills, and life readiness.
