JIMBARAN – PAUD Widiatmika celebrated Bali Language Month with great enthusiasm through various engaging and educational activities. A series of competitions, art performances, and traditional games were organized to introduce, instill, and preserve Balinese cultural values from an early age.
“We take advantage of this Bali Language Month celebration to foster a love for the Balinese language and culture, which are rich in noble values. Through fun and educational activities, children can learn while playing,” said PAUD Widiatmika Principal, Ni Made Budiadnyani.
The celebration took place over three days, from February 24 to 26, 2025. On the first day, PAUD Widiatmika students enthusiastically participated in the nyuun keben competition and a Balinese vocabulary card guessing game. Additionally, guest teachers and parents took part in the mesatwa Bali session, where they narrated traditional folktales that enriched the children’s cultural knowledge.
The second day was filled with performances from TK B1 students, who sang a medley of traditional Balinese songs, including Goak Maling Taluh, Kaki-Kaki, Putri Cening Ayu, and Meong-Meong. While singing, they also danced joyfully, creating movements based on their imagination. Meanwhile, TK B2 students performed Goak Maling Taluh while playing Goak-Goakan, a traditional game that enhances social interaction and creativity.
On the final day, students from the Playgroup (Kelompok Bermain/KB) performed Juru Pencar, followed by TK A1 and TK A2 students, who sang Curik-Curik and Meong-Meong, respectively. Each song was accompanied by a traditional Balinese game of the same name, making the event more interactive and memorable.
“The songs and games we selected carry deep cultural values. By combining elements of play and dance, children can learn about Balinese culture in a fun and easily understandable way,” Budiadnyani explained.
Furthermore, she emphasized that the Bali Language Month celebration reflects PAUD Widiatmika’s commitment to preserving the Balinese language and culture. Through this event, students were encouraged to recognize, use, and appreciate Balinese language and traditions in their daily lives. This initiative serves as a concrete step to ensure that local wisdom remains intact amid the influence of global culture.
“From an early age, children must be introduced to Balinese language, arts, and traditions so they grow up with pride and love for their cultural heritage. Additionally, the collaboration between teachers and parents in this celebration further strengthens the educational ecosystem that supports local cultural preservation. Schools are not only places for academic learning but also cultural learning centers that shape the identity of the younger generation,” she concluded.
With a spirit of togetherness and a strong commitment to cultural preservation, PAUD Widiatmika continues to create meaningful and enjoyable learning experiences for children.
