JIMBARAN - WIDIATMIKA Elementary School now has a digital library called PerpusKita or Widiatmika Elementary School Digital Library. This digital Library was launched at the beginning of the new academic year 2022/2023, to be precise, in August 2022. The purpose of this digital Library is to strengthen the literacy of students.
The principal of SD Widiatmika, Putu Edi Purwanta, said that this digital Library is based on an application that can be downloaded on the Playstore and Appstore.
"In principle, with this digital library, children can learn from any source in this digital world," said Edi.
Edi also added that this digital Library is a complement to the physical Library in the school. The collection of books is diverse. So that students can read books anywhere even though they are on school holidays.
"They can read anytime, either at home while traveling or on holidays," he said.
To use the Library, students are required to download and install this application on their respective mobile phones. Furthermore, the school librarian will help the students to create an account.
"Each student is created an account and password by the librarian. Once they have an account, they can log in and borrow books from the Library," he said.
Currently, there are 178 titles of books with various disciplines provided in this application. Students can borrow a maximum of three books for seven days. With the implementation of PerpusKita, Widiatmika Elementary School also plans to find literacy ambassadors.
Edi said that the indicator could be seen from how often the students visit the Library and borrow books, either through the school library or the digital Library.
In addition, Widiatmika Elementary School also makes an appreciation program for students who pass the selection of book reviews that they read. In this case, each student is asked to make a review of the book he reads every month.
"We will choose the best book review or summary to be given an appreciation or award," he said.
