Widiatmika School NFT Exhibition Introduces Students to Future Digital Assets

JIMBARAN - SMA & SMK Widiatmika held an exhibition entitled "Skilled towards a Technohumanistic Generation," which took place from Monday (9/5/2022) to Wednesday (11/5/2022). This innovative exhibition showcases NFT (non-fungible tokens), digital works created by the creativity of teachers and students of SMA & SMK Widiatmika.

For information, NFT is a digital asset. NFT is predicted to be an innovative product of the future, where the work can be traded with cryptocurrency, but the traces of ownership or copyright will not be lost or claimed by other parties. In Indonesia, NFT has become popular since Ghozali Everyday, a citizen, managed to record trillions of rupiah in income (in cryptocurrencies) through digital assets in daily selfies on OpenSea.

The head of SMA Widiatmika, I Made Suadnyana, said that this exhibition was open to Widiatmika Junior High School students and other junior high school students in Bali. They had the opportunity to witness firsthand digital works that had been printed and to ask and answer questions with the Widiatmika High School students who created the works.

“The junior high school children were then challenged to make their artworks become their digital assets. Previously, they participated in a sharing session with Pak Nana," said Made, Monday afternoon.

Pak Nana is one of the teachers of cultural arts at SMA Widiatmika. He is actively working, and even his designs have reached Vietnam to attract foreign clothing brands such as America and Canada. I Putu Nana Partha Wijaya, his full name, participated in a sharing session about NFT with Ghozali Everyday in Bali.

“Pak Nana influences through learning art and culture, telling stories to children, and displaying (digital) works. Widiatmika High School students were interested in joining the work and storing them in the right place. If they are uploaded on YouTube, they will only get likes, and people can steal their work," said Made.

This exhibition, said Made, aims to be a means of education so that students get to know NFT, which will become an innovative product when they grow up.

“Students should know that their work must be stored properly. It doesn't matter if the work is abstract or out of the box because there will be a market at the right time," said Made.

This exhibition managed to arouse the curiosity of many students. Every day, four junior high schools send students. On the first day, students from SMP 1 South Kuta, SMP 3 South Kuta, SMP Ngurah Rai, and SMP Angkasa were present. Several other schools are also said to want to send representatives to this exhibition so that their students also understand the intricacies of NFT, considering that not many schools have made breakthroughs like this.

“We will reschedule for future schools. We plan to extend the school visit for up to a month until it is enough for every school to send representatives," said Made.
