JIMBARAN – Widiatmika High School successfully held the Friday-Saturday Camping Program (Perkemahan Jumat-Sabtu or Perjusa) on January 24-25, 2025. Featuring various activities such as a bonfire ceremony, group cooking, art performances, morning exercise, and fun games, Perjusa served as a platform to develop students' character, fostering independence, care for others, leadership, and teamwork.
The main objective of Perjusa was to inaugurate the Tamu Ambalan Soekarno-Fatmawati and introduce the camping experience to students. Tamu Ambalan is a scouting activity aimed at familiarizing new students with scouting traditions. This year's Perjusa marked the second time the event was organized by the school's Dewan Ambalan and is expected to become an annual tradition.
According to Putu Mita Wulandani, Vice Principal for Public Relations at Widiatmika High School, Perjusa was held on the school premises. The location was intentionally chosen to provide students with the experience of enjoying a night at school while preparing them for future camping activities outside the school.
A total of 75 students from grades 10, 11, and 12 participated in the event, supported by teachers and staff as mentors. Perjusa began on Friday at 2:00 PM local time with student registration, room assignments, and an opening ceremony. This was followed by post-to-post activities around the school, cooking dinner, and the Tamu Ambalan inauguration ceremony, which concluded with a bonfire and art performances from each team.
"The second day began with morning exercise at 5:00 AM, followed by breakfast preparation and packing. The event concluded with fun games emphasizing teamwork and a closing ceremony. Every activity was designed to encourage students to become more independent, cohesive, and collaborative with their team members," explained Mita.
Mita added that the program greatly contributed to the students' character development, teaching them independence, time management, leadership, and the importance of teamwork. These qualities are vital for fostering self-reliance, leadership skills, and solidarity among students.
"This activity provides both academic and non-academic benefits. Academically, students apply the scouting knowledge they have gained during extracurricular activities in the Perjusa program. Non-academically, they become more cohesive, independent, and capable of managing themselves throughout the event," Mita concluded.
Through Perjusa, Widiatmika High School continues its commitment to shaping resilient, well-rounded, and future-ready young individuals.
