JIMBARAN – Widiatmika High School utilized the odd semester break of the 2024/2025 Academic Year by organizing a sharing session on kombucha tea-making with the student council of Bintang Mandiri High School on Monday, December 16, 2024. This activity aimed to enhance students’ practical skills. Through this sharing session, Widiatmika students were encouraged to independently create kombucha tea, a fermented beverage known for its numerous health benefits.
According to Putu Mita Wulandani, Vice Principal for Public Relations at Widiatmika High School, the event was a creative collaboration between the student councils of Widiatmika and Bintang Mandiri High Schools. Held at the Widiatmika Vocational School restaurant, 13 representatives from Bintang Mandiri’s student council shared their experiences in making kombucha tea.
“This initiative started from communication between members of the two student councils. We learned that Bintang Mandiri High School’s student council had experience in making kombucha tea, and they kindly agreed to share their knowledge with us. It wasn’t just theoretical; Widiatmika students were also directly involved in the kombucha-making process,” Mita explained.
Kombucha tea was chosen as the theme of the session due to its popularity on social media as a healthy beverage with various benefits. Kombucha is a fermented drink made from tea, sugar, and a symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY). Its probiotic and antioxidant contents are believed to improve metabolism, support digestive health, and strengthen the immune system.
“Through this activity, we hope Widiatmika students can practice making kombucha tea at home. This aligns with our school’s vision to equip students with relevant practical skills,” Mita added.
The activity was enthusiastically received by Widiatmika students. Not only did they gain new knowledge, but they also had a valuable hands-on learning experience.
“We hope activities like this inspire our students to remain creative, active, and share positive initiatives with the community,” said Mita.
