BOGOR - Widiatmika High School has been selected among thousands of schools in Indonesia to represent the nation in the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) 2022. PISA is a world assessment held every three years, initiated by Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to see how far students in developed and developing countries have acquired skills, such as reading, calculation, and mastering other sciences.
Widiatmika High School had sent their two teachers to join the preparation program of PISA Batch I, held by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, Technology, and Higher Education in Bogor, West Java. Both were Niputu Bela Fitriayuningsih as a mathematics teacher and Ni Luh Putu Suriyatmini, a biology teacher.
"We were introduced to PISA as an international assessment. Then, we were also guided on how to use the application that will be used later, and discussed the contents of PISA," said Bela, Saturday (30/10/2021).
"Besides, we also learn about micro-learning there. We were given the responsibility, and now we will coordinate with the principal," she continued.
Bela and Suryatmini will make notes to convey their knowledge of PISA to other teachers, education staff, and students who will undergo the assessment.
Bela said Widiatmika High School is ready to face PISA 2022 and sees this as a golden opportunity. Alongside Widiatmika High School, only two other schools in Bali Province and around 400 other schools throughout Indonesia were selected as PISA 2022 participants.
"There are many challenges ahead. Moreover, SMA Widiatmika has only been running for about three years. We feel grateful to be part of this assessment so that we can together improve Indonesia's ranking even better," said Bela.
"Many students already have the idea in term of the test and how to answer it. In 2020, I attended online PISA training, and I have influenced several students. Widiatmika High School had also participated in national assessment which was not much different from PISA," she ended.
