JIMBARAN - Widiatmika Vocational School (SMK Widiatmika) is ready to promote the "Guest Teacher" program on an ongoing basis to improve the students' abilities and knowledge about their incoming job. Intan Pradnya, the coordinator of The Guest Teacher Program, said that this program has begun this year and would continue according to the Director-General of Vocational Education of Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, Technology, and Higher Education.
"The Director-General of Vocational Education said that there are about eight plus one links and matches regarding the involvement of the working fields in all aspects of the implementation of vocational education. One of the conditions to create this link and match is the industry itself must provide the guest teacher for the schools," said Intan on Thursday ( 28/10/2021).
"Through this learning program, students will be taught by instructors who are not the school teachers, but from a well-known company or an entrepreneur," she continued.
Intan explained that the program, which had been conducted several times in the past months, will be held regularly twice a month. It has become a mandatory program for the students and is one of the assessment components. The guest teachers must master the academic subject and the values of the world they are involved in. For example, said Intan, a businessman working on digital printing and advertising, has to provide lessons about printing and graphic design. Another example is that animators have to share lessons and tips on creating still or moving animation using specific software. At the end of the lesson, each student will have a project related to the subject that has been discussed. In total, Widiatmika Vocational School will bring at least 50 guest teachers every semester.
The Widiatmika Vocational School aims to create a learning system that is in harmony with students' jobs in the future. Moreover, vocational education graduates are intended to be immediately absorbed into the industrial world once they graduate.
"Besides being useful for opening students' horizons about the industrial world they want to be involved in, this guest teacher program will also complement the knowledge they have gained at school," he explained. The subject obtained is expected to equip students who will undergo industrial work practices, as well as provision for students who will soon graduate to be well prepared to face their chosen job," she explained.
