Benoa, August 21, 2024 – In an effort to provide practical insights and deep understanding of the hospitality and culinary industries to its students, Widiatmika Vocational School organized a Hotel Tour at The Lerina Hotel, Benoa, South Kuta, on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. This activity is part of an annual program aimed at introducing students to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in professional work environments and offering a realistic view of the latest industry developments.
The event was attended by students from three main departments at Widiatmika Vocational School, namely Hospitality, Culinary, and Visual Communication Design (DKV). During the tour, students not only observed but also received direct guidance from experienced professionals in their respective fields. The Hospitality department was accompanied by a Manager or Housekeeping Supervisor, providing in-depth understanding of room management, cleanliness, and guest services, which are central to hotel operations.
Meanwhile, students from the Culinary department were guided by the hotel's Chef, who took them through a professional kitchen, explaining the workflow in creating quality dishes, and highlighting the importance of hygiene and food safety standards. On the other hand, students from the DKV department were accompanied by a Manager or Marketing Supervisor, who shared insights into marketing strategies within the hospitality industry, including how to design promotional materials that are both attractive and effective for various market segments.
This activity was designed to allow students to see firsthand how the theories they learn in the classroom are applied in the real working world. Through this experience, it is hoped that students will develop a better understanding of the demands and dynamics of the industry and prepare themselves with relevant skills before entering the workforce.
The Lerina Hotel was chosen as the tour location due to its reputation as a hotel that strictly adheres to SOPs and is known for its high service standards. This activity also provided students with the opportunity to interact directly with industry professionals, allowing them to ask questions and receive direct answers regarding matters related to their chosen careers.
With this activity, Widiatmika Vocational School hopes to continue providing an education that is not only theory-based but also practical and relevant to current industry needs, so that Widiatmika Vocational School graduates are better prepared to compete in an increasingly competitive job market.
