JIMBARAN – Widiatmika Vocational School held a photography competition on Monday, December 9, 2024, as part of The 3rd Jimbaran Education Festival (JEF). The competition aimed to discover talented young photographers and motivate participants to continuously improve their skills.
Through this event, participants were encouraged to explore their interests and talents early on, aligning with the vision and mission of Widiatmika Vocational School in supporting skill-based education.
Kadek Ari Krisna, Chairperson of JEF 2024 for the Widiatmika Vocational School Unit, explained that the competition was designed to identify and appreciate students with potential in photography. He hoped the event would ignite their passion for self-development and creative expression.
Ari emphasized that the competition was not merely about rivalry but also served as a learning platform. Participants were trained to develop creativity, perseverance, and critical thinking—crucial elements in honing their talents. They were also guided to capture meaningful moments while planning and refining visual concepts thoughtfully. Moreover, the competition instilled values of responsibility and discipline, as participants had to follow the rules and submit their works on time.
“Hard work and self-evaluation are also emphasized, as photography involves many trials to achieve the best results. These values aim to shape students’ character to be not only technically skilled but also equipped with strong work ethics and an appreciation for art and technology,” Ari remarked.
He added that this activity aligns with the vision and mission of Widiatmika Vocational School in supporting skill-based education. The competition introduced students to creative and technical skills relevant to professional fields, particularly in art and technology.
Through this event, participants were encouraged to explore their potential early, laying a vital foundation for pursuing specialized education at the vocational level. The competition also supported Widiatmika’s mission to inspire young generations to develop their potential through practical, relevant education tailored to the demands of the job market. This creates continuity between basic education and professional skills training.
The photography competition was open to middle school students across Badung Regency. Participants were required to submit their best works online, which were then judged based on criteria such as composition, creativity, originality, thematic relevance, photography techniques, aesthetic impression, and conveyed messages.
After a thorough judging process, the top three participants were invited to Widiatmika Vocational School for the winner announcement. The first prize went to Glorfandoe Lucky Organa from Tunas Kasih Middle School, followed by Jonathan Fredrick Sariowan from Widiatmika Middle School in second place, and I Ketut Yeremia Adi from Tunas Kasih Middle School in third place.
Glorfandoe expressed his joy at winning the competition. He said he was thrilled to participate, especially to have won first place. The winners received certificates, trophies, and scholarships for the 2025/2026 academic year at Widiatmika Vocational School.
