JIMBARAN - SMK Widiatmika held a trial class for junior high school students throughout South Kuta for the last three days, from Monday (9/5/2022) to today, Wednesday (11/5/2022). As the name implies, this class is an event where junior high school students in South Kuta can try out various skills mastered by Widiatmika Vocational School students in three skill programs, namely Hospitality, Culinary, and Multimedia.
“The ones who provide the training are the Widiatmika Vocational School students, especially those in class XII and already have ready-to-work skills. They share various sessions with their younger siblings who are still in junior high school, accompanied by a subject teacher," explained Gede Inten, Tuesday (10/5/2022).
Participants can try out photography in a studio-like a professional photographer in the Multimedia class. Some act as photographers, while others act as models or photo objects. Meanwhile, there are more skills in the Hospitality class that the participants can try out.
“For example, the children tried to make towel art in the shape of a swan. Then, in terms of catering, children are given an introduction from an early age, starting from the rules of cooking to trying to cook their simple menu,” explained Gede Inten.
In trying out their culinary skills, the students were also allowed to present a menu according to restaurant dining standards, where they needed to serve it attractively, complete with garnishes.
“Of course, these activities aim to introduce children to the learning process later at Widiatmika Vocational School. Hopefully, parents will not be wrong in determining the best major for their child," said Gede Inten.
He also did not hesitate to invite parents of junior high school students to send their children to SMK Widiatmika if they wanted their children to master the skills of being ready to work, being independent, and having character.
Moreover, the quality of education at the Widiatmika Vocational School has also received wide recognition. One of which was from the Head of South Kuta Sub-district I Ketut Gede Arta when he opened the Widiatmika Vocational High School cultural carnival event Friday (25/2/2022).
“The character education built at Widiatmika is extraordinary. I applaud it. Although many schools have been built, (Wdiatmika) will not lack students because what is being sought in the future is quality,” said Ketut.
Ketut praised the plurality of character education conducted by Widiatmika Vocational School, as reflected in the cultural carnival event at that time where students with any background could participate.
"If it is homogeneous, character education will be easy. However, the characters that need to be built are different," said Ketut.
