JIMBARAN – The performance evaluation of Widiatmika Vocational School’s principal (PKKS) by the Bali Provincial Office of Education, Youth, and Sports has resulted in a positive evaluation. The school’s key strength lies in its ability to prepare students for industry demands, ensuring that graduates are readily absorbed into the workforce.
“The main strength of Widiatmika Vocational School in this year’s PKKS is its student-centered and industry-based learning approach. The link and match between students and industry is highly evident, with 100% of graduates employed or pursuing entrepreneurship in line with their areas of expertise. Additionally, 75% of graduates who continue to higher education choose fields of study aligned with their vocational training,” explained Ni Luh Putu Emayanti, Principal of Widiatmika Vocational School.
PKKS is an annual activity designed to evaluate the performance of school principals. Its primary purpose is to ensure the delivery of quality education through reflection, reinforcement, and continuous improvement. This year’s PKKS for Widiatmika Vocational School took place on December 3, 2024, with the final results expected to be released on December 31, 2024.
The PKKS evaluation uses the ASIKPPS application available at asikpps.melajah.id. Key evaluation components for vocational schools include teachers’ performance in managing student-centered learning, the principal’s leadership in managing the institution, a conducive learning environment, and graduates’ learning outcomes aligned with industry needs.
To maintain its high standards, Widiatmika Vocational School has implemented several strategic initiatives, according to Emayanti. These include industry-based learning supported by an industrial-class program designed to provide students with practical experience before undertaking internships. Reflective education is also emphasized to foster a culture of learning, sharing, and collaboration. Additionally, Widiatmika Vocational School strives to create a safe, inclusive educational environment that celebrates diversity.
Emayanti noted that while the general results of Widiatmika Vocational School’s PKKS reflect a positive evaluation, evaluators have provided constructive feedback for further improvement. One key suggestion is for teachers to adopt more varied assessment methods, moving beyond oral and written tests to include project-based assessments, portfolios, and performance evaluations. Such diverse approaches are expected to enhance the learning experience, making it more relevant to each student’s unique needs.
She added that the Bali Provincial Office of Education, Youth, and Sports has also recommended that the school’s Annual Work Plan (RKT) adopt a data-driven planning approach. This involves utilizing data such as education report cards, supervision results, evaluation meeting outcomes, and PKKS results.
“This evaluation serves as a reflection for strengthening and improving our systems. We will incorporate these reflections into the 2025 RKT to continuously improve the quality of our education services and establish Widiatmika Vocational School as a leading institution,” Emayanti concluded.
