BADUNG - Ni Putu Galuh Sekar Ayu is one of the representatives from Bali who will compete in the National Science Olympiad (OSN) for Junior High School level in the field of Natural Sciences. Galuh is a Widiatmika Junior High School student.
This is evidenced by the decree of the Head of the Indonesian Talent Development Center, Secretariat General of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Number: 0196/J7.1/Pn.01/2022 concerning the Determination of Candidates for the National Science Olympiad-Junior High School (OSN-SMP) National Level 2022 dated July 11y 2022.
Galuh will compete on August 22, 2022, online from the school. He will also compete with 174 other junior high school students from Indonesia.
When contacted on Thursday, July 144, 2022, Galuh said he had started preparing to participate in this competition.
"My readiness is almost the same as during the initial test. There is guidance from the teacher, studying material from various sources, and practice questions," said Galuh.
In addition to receiving guidance from the coaching teacher, he teaches himself through the Youtube channel, supporting books, and e-books that he downloads on the internet. Currently, Galuh said he is still focusing on studying biology. This is because biology memorizes more.
"It's different from Physics. If you understand the concept, you can do it. Biology is mostly rote," she said.
The girl born in 2008 did not expect to qualify for the national level. He took part in the selection at the school online on June 299, 2022.
"Initially, I had a 50:50 feeling that I could qualify. Very grateful to be able to get to this stage, "she admitted.
She also admits that she has liked science since she was in SD Widiatmika. His favorite subject is physics which includes mathematics. Since the seventh grade of junior high school, she has donated trophies to his school several times. The champions she has ever won are first place in the science olympiad at SMAN 1 Gianyar, second place at SMAN 2 Abiansemal, the third place in the science competition at SMAN 2 South Kuta.
Meanwhile, the physics teacher at Widiatmika Middle School, I Kadek Agus Putrawan, S.Pd, said he was coaching Galuh with I Wayan Gus Arnawa, S.Pd. in the field of biology.
Agus said that Galuh is indeed an intelligent student.
"She already has the initial capital. It's just a matter of sharpening which concepts are not understood and the questions," he said.
Agus also admits that Galuh has excelled since elementary school. In addition, she is also a creative person who is always curious, so when learning does not only rely on teachers at school.
"I have also asked Galuh to continue studying questions or materials from Youtube in addition to participating in coaching at school. In schools, coaching is usually carried out after effective learning hours," he said.
