JIMBARAN - Widiatmika Junior High School teacher, Gus Arnawa, was chosen as the workshop speaker on the Motivating Teacher program, a program from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemendikbudristek).
The event, which took place at the Rumah Luwih Resort, Gianyar, Saturday (11/13/2021), was attended by at least 30 schools from Gianyar, Tabanan, to Denpasar. Those schools haven't had any activating teachers yet.
"That was workshop 7 for prospective activating teachers. I spoke about the Widiatmika School programs which are based on independent learning movement," said Gus Arnawa, Monday (15/11/2021).
"There were also heads of education offices and heads of divisions as well as school principals and teachers who were interested in our program. I explained everything," he said.
Gus Arnawa said that at Widiatmika Junior High School, programs had been carried out as a form of support for the independent learning movement. One of them is project-based learning (PjBS). Through PjBS, schools serve a number of project categories according to the interests and talents of students. Students would be challenged to create works according to their creativity.
Students turned out excellent in making songs, paintings, and even furniture using raw materials or used goods. In addition, Gus Arnawa also spoke about differentiated learning materials and socio-emotional learning, two main things in activating teacher programs.
"For differentiated learning, we have to design learning programs according to the student's learning profile, according to learning readiness, then based on their interest. So we have to design student-centered learning," he explained.
"Socio-emotional, it's about how to design learning so that self-awareness, social awareness, and others can be formed," he concluded.
Currently, Gus Arnawa has the status of activating teacher candidate from Widiatmika Junior High School who is currently undergoing education from the Ministry. He is on the eighth month of the nine months of education he has to take.
