JIMBARAN - Widiatmika Middle School held its annual student orientation program (MPLS) from July 21 to 23, 2025, introducing flagship initiatives such as Proligika (Digital Literacy), PJBS (Project-Based School), and the Strengthening of Pancasila Student Profile Project (P5). The in-person program was attended by all new students on campus.
The 2025/2026 orientation adopted the theme “Building Noble Character Through Meaningful and Joyful Activities.” Over the course of three days, students were not only introduced to the school environment but also engaged in sessions that fostered character development, digital literacy, and independent learning aligned with the Merdeka Curriculum approach.
Principal I Wayan Gus Arnawa, S.Pd., emphasized that this year’s orientation was designed to instill positive habits from day one.
“We want students to go beyond simply knowing the rules and facilities. They should begin to form a healthy learning culture,” he said.
The program combined classroom-based sessions and outdoor activities, including the “Seven Habits of Excellent Indonesian Students” movement, anti-drug (NAPZA) education, an anti-violence declaration, and bullying prevention. Fun physical activities, peer mentorship, and school environment tours were also included in the lineup.
The student council (OSIS) played a key role, serving not only as event organizers but also as mentors. Senior students shared their personal experiences and helped new students adjust to the school culture. The final day included a mental health screening and classroom clean-up as part of collective responsibility training.
According to Gus Arnawa, active involvement from both students and teachers was a major strength of this year’s program.
“Students were genuinely enthusiastic. We hope they can adapt quickly and grow into intelligent, character-driven learners,” he added.
Prior to the main event, a pre-orientation session was held on July 18, which included OSIS introductions, group assignments, and technical briefings. All information was shared via official communication groups with parents and students.
With a contextual and participatory approach, Widiatmika Middle School sees orientation week not just as a formality, but as a vital gateway to shaping a generation of independent, responsible, and resilient learners.
