JIMBARAN – Two students from Widiatmika Middle School, Nyoman Satvika Reipinra Kaliha and Komang Marcha Ribeka Siba, successfully secured first and third place in the presenter competition at Bima Mega Fest 2025, organized by Bintang Mandiri School Jimbaran on Saturday, February 1, 2025. This achievement is the result of intensive training and the school's full support in developing students' talents in public speaking.
The presenter competition at Bima Mega Fest 2025 aimed to sharpen students' public speaking skills, particularly in professionally hosting formal events. The competition featured participants from various schools and assessed their ability to deliver information engagingly, clearly, and confidently. Contestants were evaluated based on vocal control, intonation, articulation, improvisation, expression, speech tempo, and audience interaction.
Nyoman Satvika Reipinra Kaliha, affectionately known as Omang, expressed his pride in winning first place. For him, this victory is not just an achievement but also proof of his consistency and hard work in public speaking.
"I have been active as a presenter even before this competition, and I knew that losing was not an option. If I failed, it would mean that I wasn't good enough in this field yet. However, I realized that failure is part of the learning process. At first, I felt insecure because most of the participants were female, who generally have stronger diaphragm control. But instead of discouraging me, it motivated me even more to prove that men can also excel in the world of presenting," said Omang.
To perform at his best, Omang adopted two main strategies: dedicating himself to practice and believing in the power of prayer. He made full use of his free time to train, refine his skills, and remain open to feedback from his mentors, family, and friends.
Meanwhile, Komang Marcha Ribeka Siba, who won third place, expressed gratitude for her achievement. Although she initially felt intimidated by the strong competition, she persevered and continued to develop her potential.
"This trophy is not just a decoration but tangible proof of the long journey I have undergone—mentally, physically, and in embracing challenges. Honestly, I had doubts at first when I saw how outstanding the other participants were. However, I chose to push aside negative thoughts and keep trying. In the end, I managed to stand on the winner’s podium," said Marcha.
Both Omang and Marcha are committed to further pursuing public speaking and participating in similar competitions in the future.
Rasyid Rahayu Zega, their mentor, expressed his pride in the students' achievements. According to him, this victory is not just about winning awards but also a reflection of their hard work, dedication, and determination.
"This achievement proves that with effort and teamwork, nothing is impossible. This victory also serves as an inspiration for other students to continue developing their potential, whether in academics, the arts, sports, or public speaking," said Rasyid.
Widiatmika Middle School provided full support through an intensive three-week training program. The training included script selection evaluation, vocal exercises, content mastery, time management, expressions, improvisation, and techniques for delivering a compelling performance before the judges. Additionally, the school conducted competition simulations to familiarize participants with the actual contest atmosphere.
"Widiatmika Middle School has a special program to enhance students' public speaking skills, called Podium Widiatmika Merdeka Berbicara (PWMB). This program serves as a platform for students to practice regularly. They are also given opportunities to speak at various school events, such as flag ceremonies, seminars, and art performances. We also encourage students to actively participate in speech, debate, storytelling, and presenting competitions, both within the school and externally," he concluded.
With strong support from the school and the students' unwavering enthusiasm, Widiatmika Middle School remains committed to nurturing a generation of confident and competent public speakers.
