MANGUPURA - Widiatmika High School (SMA) Jimbaran, Badung, Bali, held a curriculum review on Wednesday, June 29, 2022. All teachers attended this review which was opened by the Chairperson of the Widiatmika Foundation Trustees, Drs. I Nyoman Sudiatma, M.Pd.
In his speech, Sudiatma told teachers at SMA Widiatmika to be able to implement the curriculum well in the learning process.
"The curriculum should not only be used as a document. It will not be useful because the curriculum is a compass for learning. Teachers must understand the curriculum. So that in implementing curriculum reviews, all teachers must be present," he said.
The Chairperson of the Trustees, also the founder of the Widiatmika Foundation, requested that teachers be ready and understand all aspects of the curriculum. He gave an example regarding the implementation of the 2013 Curriculum. In the 2013 Curriculum, there are four core competencies (KI), and the teacher's task is to be able to worship the KI so that students have good character, spiritual attitudes, mastery of science and technology, and skills.
"In KI-3, there is knowledge about how students can be literate and master science and technology. How do teachers plan to learn and carry out development," he asked.
In terms of skills, he asked the teacher for students to have creative thinking skills, critical thinking and problem solving, communication, and collaboration) commonly referred to as the 4Cs.
According to him, the high school curriculum is undergoing drastic and striking changes. This is because students are given the freedom to make choices about the material. In fact, in the future, learning in high school will lead to a system of semester credit units or credits.
"Freedom to choose as long as the number of credits accommodated is appropriate. In the future, that is the direction. So there is a credit system so that there are children who reach acceleration, it can be 2.5 years, and teachers must be ready in that direction," he said.
Under these conditions, teachers are also asked to assist students regularly and continuously. The teacher must also understand the problems of the students. Sudiatma emphasizes not curriculum implementation, only vision, mission, and solely. But also on the content, including the structure. According to him, the curriculum is the minimum standard of a learning process. So it should be developed again and not even reduced.
"If the minimum is not met, how can the process and objectives be achieved," he said.
Sudiatma added that this curriculum review is a place for teachers to proceed.
"Follow what is directed by the supervisor. You must be willing to learn, and the foundation will be ready to provide support. Whatever the problem, the foundation is ready to help as long as the teachers are willing to learn. If you don't want to learn, you won't be able to," he said.
Value also said that Widiatmika has always been number one in curriculum development following government regulations.
"Since 2003, Widiatmika always doesn't want to be in the middle and always wants to be at the front. When piloting the 2013 Curriculum, we were in the first place. Only 15 schools in Bali, and we were in the first place. Then there were schools retreating, and we kept going," he said.
