MANGUPURA - Chairman of the Trustees of the Widiatmika Foundation, Drs. I Nyoman Sudiatma, M.Pd. Highlighting the current state of education in Bali. He conveyed this in front of the supervisor during the Widiatmika High School and Vocational High School graduation celebration at the Mercure Nusa Dua Hotel on June 4, 2022.
"I am very aware that if there are schools that have no buildings, teachers are not clear, then they have accepted students. What are they going to do? They will pass the time without any provisions. We are destroying their future," said Sudiatma, who is already struggling in education for more than 40 years.
When these students enter the productive age, they do not have the knowledge, skills, or good character.
"How can Indonesia and Bali progress if that is the case?" he said.
He, who has taught in many schools in Badung and Denpasar, sees the class capacity as not following what is mandated by the Minister of Education and Culture, only to accommodate regional interests. For example, the class capacity for the Elementary School should be 28 students. Now, it is 35 or even 40 students.
Meanwhile, the capacity for Junior High School, which should have been a maximum of 32 students, has now changed to 45. Likewise, a classroom in High School, has a maximum capacity of 36 students. Even though the minimum service is not met, at the time of accreditation, the school gets an A accreditation.
"Where did the A accreditation come from? Even though the number of students in one group (study group) affects process standards, content and others," he said.
Sudiatma also said that what was happening now had turned 180 degrees, where students in private schools are excellent in character.
"I saw it in public schools, and there were complaints from parents because of overcapacity. So when things happened that they didn't want, all the officials got a beard and blamed the school. Even though the school is good, the teachers are extraordinary," he said.
According to him, private schools are partners with state schools. All schools must collaborate so there is no discrimination.
